MIL-P-50307(MU)
Utilize test equipment conforming to 4.5, t e s t
4.6.6 Optical
procedures herein, and test set-up instructions In subparagraphs (a) and
(b) or on test fixture drawings, as appropriate, to perform the following
tests.
a.
Holding medium set-up instructions.- On a cross-leveled
surface mount the holding mediums provided for the projector-collimator,
auxiliary telescope and projector. Locate and identify with appropriate
temporary marks the
axes of the projector which corresponds to lines A, C, and
D (Fig. I). Since the
centerline (/of datum diameter C represents
the geometric longitudinal axis of the main housing 10547482 (Drawing
F10547482) and is not readily identified or marked, the surface on the
main housing designated as surface X on this drawing may be used to locate
the @ of datum diameter C. With appropriate marks, establish on the hold-
ing mediums two horizontal planes 4.5-inches apart, that are parallel to
e a c h o t h e r a n d p a r a l l e l to
the cross-leveled surface plate. The upper
plane shall contain line W and the lower plane line A 90° to line W.
Utilize the 0.250 inch diameter hole in the main housing 10547482 and on
the projector's holding medium, establish line D in a
plumb v e r t i c a l
transverse plane 90° with respect to longitudinal line W and the surface
plate. Now establish the diagonal longitudinal plumb vertical plane con-
taining line C which shall form an angle of 40° + 2° with respect to a

longitudinal plane containing line D shall then be employed to establish a
second plumb vertical longitudinal plane parallel to the former at a
distance of 17-5/16 inches which shall also contain line W. Make the
appropriate marks on the mediums provided to hold the auxiliary telescope
and projector-collimator to facilitate proper orientation of both instru-
m e n t s w i t h r e s p e c t to
the line W as established herein.
Instrument set-up instructions.- Prior to inserting the
b.
projector into its holding medium, mount the auxiliary telescope(s) and
projector-collimator and verify that their retitles a r e
aligned and
superimposed on each other and orientate the geometric axis (line W in
Figure 1), so obtained, in respect to other axes to provide the line of
sight required to verify compliance with 3.7.2 and 3.7.3* The projector
shall now be mounted in its holding medium with Arm 10547473
in an
operating position. The projector shall be energized through its electrical
input connector with 28 vdc in proper polarity.
4 , 6 . 6 . 1 Optical-mechanical alignment.- Adjust the light intensity
control for optimum viewing and sight along the geometric axis (Line W in
Figure 1) established in 4.6.6.
Examine the coincidence existing between
the center of the projector's projected reticle image, at the intersection
of the crosshairs, and the" established line of sight to verify compliance
with 3.7.2. This t e s t
shall be performed and the results obtained recorded
prior to
the vibration tests in 4.6.4 and the optical-mechanical alignment
retention tests in 4.6.6.6.
