MIL-S-70442 (AR)
If the FCC operation is invalid, the raw laser range shall be
displayed and so indicated. The Radar Altitude High/Low symbols
shall be displayed when these discrete commands from the radar
altimeter exists at the HUDS interface.
3.4.2.3.2.3 Fire control symbol. A fire control reticle (see
Figures 1 and 2) used for either direct for indirect rocket fire
shall be displayed when the HUDS is in the appropriate weapon mode as
shown in Table I. The reticle shall be capable of being displaced
to any location within the HUD field of view (see Figure 3) as a
function of azimuth and elevation position command signals from the
FCC . When a gun mode discrete is present, the fire control direct
rocket reticle shall be superimposed on the boresight reference
symbol by the HUDS. If the FCC has failed and gun mode has not been
selected, the fire control back-up rocket reticle (see Figure 2)
shall be positioned in elevation as a function of raw laser range by
the HUDS.
3.4.2.3.2.4 TOW mode symbols. Pilot steering information
symbols, pre-launch or post-launch, shall be displayed, when the
weapon system is in the TOW mode and when the HUDS receives the
appropriate TOW mode discrete signals. The two sets of symbols
shall be functionally identical but shall be represented in a
different scale factor for each of the two modes. Symbols
indicating right or left missile selection shall be displayed
whenever the appropriate discrete signal occurs.
3.4.2.3.2.5 TSU LOS cueing symbol. A TSU LOS cueing symbol
shall be variable in location in the field of view as a function of
azimuth and elevation position and mode commands to the HUDS.
3.4.2.3.2.6 TSU coarse azimuth symbols. A coarse azimuth
pointer and scale representing the total azimuth travel of the TSU
shall be displayed.
3.4.2.3.3 Test mode. All data positions and symbols shall be
displayed simultaneously as shown in Figure 4.
